An antique American Burroughs portable adding machine by Victor Adding Machine Company. Marked with a brand logo, on the body. Marked with a label, Patented June 20, 1919 to April 13th 1920, Mfd. by Victor Adding Machine Co. Chicago, U.S.A. Other Patents Pending. The Burroughs Adding Machine was invented in the early 1880's, and the official patent was granted in 1888. Creator: William Seward Burroughs. Victor Adding Machine Company was established in Chicago in 1918 by the chief designer and one of three owners, Oliver David Johantgen.
