Description
17th / early 18th Century rapier or smallsword having belonged to Captain Robert Orme, aide-de-camp to General Edward Braddock during Braddocks Expedition. Hilt with striated fig form pommel, chiseled knuckle guard, double shell form cup guard, chiseled wire design metal grip. 33.25" triangular tapered iron thrusting blade, no visible markings. Overall 40.5" long. Affixed to wood wall mount with silvered plaque identifying Capt. Orme. Please note while this sword is correct and of the period, we cannot guarantee these as belonging to Orme and are relying on family tradition and the associated plaques. Condition: Blade with nice chocolate patina, very minor spots of surface rust near hilt.
