Description
Chinese carved jade lidded vessel, likely for storing an archer's ring, with calligraphy throughout the exterior. The translucent stone of a pale grayish-white coloration. The lid with low relief carvings.The poem is on the theme of chrysanthemums by the Qianlong Emperor (r. 1736-1795).
Provenance: Private Minneapolis Collection - collected in China prior to 1985.

Condition
There are no chips, cracks, losses, or restorations. Some natural veining. Losses to the pigment used to paint the calligraphy. Holes through the center and bottom to allow a cord or chain to pass through.
