Collection of L. Delmar and Susan Burrows Swan, Wilmington, Delaware.
Susan B. Swan was a needlework scholar and author. She served for many years as a curator at Winterthur Museum.
This portrait was originally found beneath the following lot 122, Still Life with Bird and Fruit in a Landscape. The still life had been glued to the portrait and stretcher. The two were conserved and restored at Winterthur Museum in 1968. Small losses of pigment and tears patched and retouched, relined. A treatment report accompanies lot.
