All eight Immortals have had enormous attention to detail applied, intricate etching to emphasize the smallest of differences and dark staining has been introduced to bring a contrast in features such as hair, utensils, creatures and eyes. These are larger carvings and each is solid. Each Taoist figure is represented: Chung li Ch'uan / Zhongli Quan holding his fly wisk and fan, Chang Kuo-Lao / Zhang Guo Lao with his bamboo drum and sticks, Lu Tung Pin / Lu Dongbin with sword and fly wisk, Ts'ao Kuo-Chiu / Cao Guojiu with castanets, Li T'ieh-Kuai / Iron-Crutch Li with gourd and staff, Han Hsiang-Tzu / Han Xiang Zi with flute and phoenix, Ho Hsien-Ku / He Xiangu with lotus and basket and Lan Ts'ai-ho / Lan Caihe with basket of flowers.
