Early pen and ink figurative abstract drawing by world renowned 20th century American abstract Expressionist ceramic artist Peter Voulkos (1924-2002) early in his career while at Montana State University in Bozeman studying painting and printmaking and working with friend and business partner Rudy Autio, he created this pen and ink drawing, the male figure is Voulkos as well as creating another one with his friend Rudy in that one and given as a gift. Museum farmed with UV plexiglass and on acid free board in a black frame. Voulkos was a multi talented artist beyond his ceramic skill set of redefining modern ceramics as we know it today from Craft to fine art. Studied at Montana State University (BFA) and California College of the Arts, SF (MFA). He founded the ceramics department at Cal Berkeley as well as the ceramics department at Otis College of Art and Design. Voulkos taught ceramics at Black Mountain College during the summers. His work is in the collections MoMA NY, MoMA SF, Oakland Museum of California and in many major museums across the country and in the world, 21.5" H x 17.25" W x 1" D framed.
