Julie Anderson (American, Contemporary). Mixed media bride puppet, 2006. Signed and dated on rod beneath dress. A handmade rod puppet of a beautiful blushing bride by Julie Anderson. This beautiful bride puppet is dressed in a flowing wedding gown comprised of multiple layers of white satin adorned with lace and faux pearls as well as a diaphanous veil bedecked with sequins. She also wears two strands of faux fresh water pearls and a gold-tone necklace with a rose pendant around her neck, an engagement ring with a faux diamond surrounded by rhinestones on her left hand, and a rhinestone bracelet on her right hand. In her right hand is a bouquet of lavender flowers. Finally, her emotive face is hand-painted with long-lashed green eyes, green eye shadow, arched brows, rouged cheeks, and voluminous fuchsia lips. The rod supporting the puppet fits snugly into a tiered wooden stand that Anderson painted gold with green swirled and striated decorative motifs.
