Near East, Islamic, ca. 16th to 18th century CE. An illuminated page from an Islamic text, perhaps from the Koran (Quran) or a piece of poetry, presenting vivid Arabic text in elegant black script with rectangular motifs highlighted by red rosettes against gold leaf grounds and blue borders, a central vertical column of green and pink triangular motifs against a gold leaf ground, and finally a linear border of gold leaf, blue, and red hues. The text is ruled in 12 lines. On the verso of the frame is an old note that reads, "Manuscript Persian fin 16 siecle - 400." A lovely illuminated page framed under glass. Size: 8.5" L x 5.75" W (21.6 cm x 14.6 cm); 11.375" L x 8.625" W (28.9 cm x 21.9 cm) framed
