Item Details
Description
This BeautifullyAuthentic Hand-Painted Geisha Girl Patterned Porcelain Chocolate Pot Derived its Name from Decorations based on Japanese Women Surrounded by Scenes of Traditional Life. These Included Settings in Gardens, Near Temples and Other Buildings or By Lakes and Streams. There were Hundreds of Different Patterns, Some Simple and Others Very Detailed, but Common to Each were the Lovely Geishas. Geisha Girl Porcelain was Made in Japan in Various Forms from the Late 19th C to the 1980's. Black Hawk Estate Sales Feels Confident Regarding the Genuine Authenticity of this KUTANI GEISHA GIRL PORCELAIN for All of the Following Reasons: Geisha Girl Decorations were a combination of stenciled lines filled in by bright and varied colored washes - But it is Unquestionably the Raised Stenciling Itself that Forms the Outlines of Original Decorations. On Originals, Colors Are Applied OVER the Stenciling and Usually Go Beyond Outlines. Running a Fingernail Over the Surface of a Genuine Geisha Girl Pattern and One Can Feel the Stenciled Lines Rasied Above the Porcelain, Which was Almost Always On a White Background. These Lines Were Most Frequently in Red-Orange, but Black, Tan and Shades of Green are also Found. Stenciled Wares were by Far the Most Frequently Produced, and Wholly Hand Painted Decoration were a Distant Second. Furthermore, Brush Strokes of Color Almost Always Extend Beyond Outlines of Plants and Figures in at Least One or More Places. There Can Also be Considerable Areas Within Outlines that are Purposefully Left Bare Without Color (Especially Noticeable in Leaves and Flowers. Another More Subtle Clue is in the Faces of the Figures. Eyes and Noses on Original Figures are Almost Always Drawn with Simple Straight Lines or Even Periods. This Chocolate Pot has a Rich Deep Cobalt Trim, Accented with Hand Painting Gilding and Beautiful Geisha Girls. It will Absolutely Make a Fine Addition to your Antique Porcelain Collection or Used as Intended on your Dining Table. It Could be Used as a Pitcher for Coffee, Iced Tea, Water, Lemondate or Other Drinks You Savor. It Displays a "JAPAN" mark on the Underside of the Base.
