For 5 ¼ in. wide slides, tin case with gilt pinstriping and feet, large arched doors on both sides, company inscription on the front and sides, back with arched opening of 11 x 2 ¾ in. for inserting a period portable lantern (a portable bull’s-eye lantern also known as a police lantern or a dark lantern) for illumination, complete 2-element brass lens with rotating brass lid, double condenser of 104 mm Ø, height with chimney 27 in. - An early and imposing American magic lantern.
