French Provincial Louis XIII Style Carved Walnut Writing Table, 19th c., the stepped rectangular top over a frieze drawer, on rope twist and block legs, joined by a like-form stretcher, H.- 30 1/2 in., W.- 35 1/4 in., D.- 24 1/8 in.

The table sustained significant worm hole damage that necessitated several repairs over the years with period and newer wood. The H-stretcher appears to be original and exhibits losses from worm activity, shrinkage cracks and a few old patch repairs. The rope twists legs are replacements with no worm hole activity, as is the table top. The bottom of the drawer is a newer wood replacement. One table knee has a shrinkage crack that has been secured at the joint with a wood glue.
