Dorothea Maetzel Johannsen, German, 1886 to 1930, mixed media painting on board depicting a rural scene with a hunter and a dog, Signed with a monogram and dated probably 1922, lower left. Framed. Dorothea Maetzel Johannsen was a German artist, known for figure, still life and landscape painter, student of L. Corinth, married to the painter and architect Emil Maetzel, educational journeys to Paris and Chartres, member of the Hamburg Secession, started with expressionistic woodcuts, the pictorial oeuvre was mainly created in her last decade of life and mainly uses a expressionist pictorial language. One of a kind artwork.
