DESCRIPTION: American Edwardian period (c. 1900-1918) upholstered and hardwood parlor suite consisting of a settee and accompanying chairs. The settee with a mixed wood frame consisting of paw feet, scroll arms and a finely carved back with opposing dragons. The frame covered in a pink tufted velvet upholstery. The companion armchairs having identical carving to the settee albeit on a smalle scale. Sets like this were generally produced in the Midwest and South and retailed in stores throughout the United States. In their period, they would have been called "colonial" in style although more closely relating to the 19th century Empire style. MEASUREMENT: 25-1/2" to 51-1/4" wide x 25 to 25-1/4" deep x 44" to 44-1/2" high. CONDITION: Staining on the cushion of one chair. Stains to the upholstery, repaired arm breaks, appears to be refinished. MEG/PS
