Research by the current owner suggests the present lot was part of the body of work completed by Scholder for his MFA degree at the Arizona State University in 1961-62.

Label attached verso stating conservation of the painting was completed in February of 2014 by Sutton Greene; the conservator having been the Principal Painting Conservator at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO at that time.

Pronounced craquelure and surface irregularities scattered across the canvas; examination under UV light shows areas with infilled cracks with accompanying paint retouch, primarily at spots near the corners and adjacent to the edges; conservation board attached by screws and covering the entire back of the canvas; conservation of the painting was completed in February of 2014 by Sutton Greene LLC, Art Conservation Services, with attached label reading 'Retouching performed with: Gamblin Conservation Colors (Laporal A81 Retouching Medium)', however, a full conservation report is not available.
