Description
Attributed Felix Lecomte (French, 1737–1817). This antique bust of Marie Antoinette has been gracefully crafted in biscuit porcelain after the fashionable Sevres. Biscuit, or bisque, describes the technique whereby the porcelain is left unglazed, in its pure white state. This method allows the details of the modeling process to be clearly seen. It rests on a porcelain plinth of the famous cobalt blue color, known as "bleu de Sèvres", and bronze with an exquisite finish. The figure of Marie Antoinette wears flowers in her hair and a pendant, displaying Louis XVI's profile portrait of her, around her neck. On the base, the piece is signed with two interlocking Ls painted in blue, which contain an A, known as the SEVRES mark. Dimensions: Height: 26 in (66.04 cm) Width: 14.25 in (36.19 cm) Depth: 10 in (25.4 cm). Style: Louis XVI. Materials and Techniques: Porcelain (biscuit). Manufactured in France in the 18th century. Condition: Good (needs minimal or partial restoration on the base of the bust). This spectacular piece can decorate even the most incredible of locations, due to its beauty and exclusivity. Any description of it would be small before such a majestic piece. It can be from you.
