Description
South Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A wonderful marble sculpture of a standing deity, perhaps Buddha or a Hindu god, adorned in hues of red, gold, and black. Crowned by a conical coiffure, the tranquil deity features a slender body dressed in a lungi and embellished by necklaces, sashes, armbands, and earrings. His huge eyes gaze forth from a serene countenance of a naturalistic nose, fleshy lips, and elongated ears. Size: 5.3" W x 18" H (13.5 cm x 45.7 cm)
