Description
These are wonderful antique books from Heinrich Heine with introduction by Reinhold Ortmann. Unable to find a date but they are believed to have been published around 1900. Books are leather bound with gold embossed trim and spine. Lot is four books, three volumes each. They appear to be some sort of biography of some sort, probably includes his poetry. There is a section on his friend Ludwig Borne and another on the French states. Note: I've seen these volumes called poetry books, but the translation of a couple of pages indicate they aren't entirely poetry. Heine was born in Germany in 1797. In 1831 he moved to France and was considered a radical. He became ill in 1848 where he was bedridden until his death in 1856.
Condition
Condition is good for age. Breaking at the spine on two books, pages are toned. Minimal wear on the spine and front and back cover.
