1865 French antique terrestrial globe 14 " Andriveau-Goujon editeur
Andriveau-Goujon Eugène Andriveau-Goujon (1832-1897) was active in Paris between 1858 and 1892.Little is known about Eugène Andriveau , he married Mlle Goujon in 1825 then took over his father's trade in maps at 6 rue du Bac. Worked with his son Gilbert who would have developed most of the maps and globes published by the father's firm , this globe is part of the last lineage of the famous French map maker of the 18th century , globe making was not just a luxury item but was becoming a household item for the upper middle class created by the industrial revolution .Eugène 1832-1897, being the son of Gilbert Andriveau-Goujon, took over in 1858 the management of the family geographic business which he ceded to Mr. Barrère in 1892, which at later date became the Girard and Barrère editions then GIRARD, BARRERE ET THOMAS and finally by 1974 TARIDE .
H. 22 D. 14 inches , fresh color , some light touch up in the sea near Japan , some in the Atlantic , all map readable , some oxidation ,interesting and scarce globe.
