BOURKE-WHITE, MARGARET. 1904-1971. Photographs of U.S.S.R. Albany, NY: Argus Press, 1934. Folio. 24 photogravure prints. Publisher's quarter cloth portfolio with pictorial board covers, cloth ties, plates loose with die-cut mats and tissue guards. Soiling to portfolio, some fingermarks. LIMITED EDITION, SIGNED BY BOURKE-WHITE on the limitation page, number 98 of 1,000 copies. Bourke-White travelled to Soviet Russia multiple times during the 1930s to document the 5-year plan. Her photos were published in Fortune, a 6-part series in The New York Times, and in this portfolio. She returned to the Soviet Union in 1941 to document their war efforts in her book Shooting the Russian War, published in 1942. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
