This exceptionally handsome sideboard and hutch are being sold as one unit, including the mirrored glass panel seen on the back wall which serves to connect the two pieces as one magical unit. They are both made out of stunning rosewood and feature traditional relief carvings that represent Chinese prosperity, joy and good luck; featuring sparrows, magpies and dynamic floral simplicity. Both pieces are crafted with traditional joinery for long lasting durability and timelessness. In many cultures, including Asian traditions like feng shui, birds are powerful symbols found in palaces as well as in the simplest of adornments. At its core, feng shui is about connecting to the natural world, so animals are key and Birds are especially compelling symbols because they can fly with freedom from the earth. These animals soar through the sky, connecting us to the heavens. Birds are thought of as divine messengers to communicate our humble requests to the gods above. There are two sets of doors on the buffet for ample storage and within each compartment are two shelves, and two small pull-out drawers. On the hutch, there are similarly two cabinets with shelves to feature all your fine china and stemware. The top apron is stunning running across the tops of the cabinets to unify the two in blissful harmony; featuring more scrollwork and the like. These three dimensional carvings showcase phenomenal craftsmanship and the doors highlight original brass mountings. The hand applied finish brings out the luxurious grains of the rosewood lumber. This original patina is majestic, rich, refined - outstanding pieces! These pieces are extremely solid, and have been kept in excellent condition (the set was originally the homeowners' wedding gift). The buffet and hutch will look perfect in any home decor.
