Two Boys in a Dark Room. Gouache on paper. Signed, Cornelius McCarthy, and dated, 87 lower right. Inscribed, CMCC329, dated, 1987, and inscribed as titled on verso. 406x502 mm; 16x19 inches. 1987. Provenance: Adonis Art International, London, UK, 2011; Private collection, Santa Fe, NM. Cornelius McCarthy studied art at Goldsmiths College, University of London. His depictions of the male nude vary from representational to abstract. His influences of Cubism are apparent, and perhaps the English derived variant on Cubism and Futurism, Vorticism, found its way into his compositions as well.
