DESCRIPTION: Antique bronze bust sculpture by Jean-Louis Gregoire (French, 1840-1890) entitled "L'Alsace separee de la France" or "L'alsace apres la commune" depicting a crying woman wearing a cross necklace and a cockade; the bust proper is supported by a pedestal with "1871" inscribed inside of a wreath, indicating the year in which the French province of Alsace was annexed by Germany. "Susse Freres]" foundry mark on verso. Unsigned.
