Doug Maytubbie (Choctaw, Born 1940-) Pair of Indian "Fancy Dancers" Tempera Paintings. There is a slight difference in the sizes of this pair. The paintings are signed, "Doug Maytubbie, 88," below Maytubbie's signature Indian ceremonial spear trademark. Doug Maytubbie is a member of the Choctaw Tribe and was born in Battiest, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School in 1959. After high school, Doug joined the United States Army and served from 1960-1965. Doug is a self-taught artist and started drawing as a child. He did receive some formal training while attending college. He is a 1978 graduate from Eastern Oklahoma State College with an Associate Degree and a 1981 graduate of Central State University with a bachelor in science degree. His art is widely collected and is represented in private and public collections across the county and in Europe. Professionally framed and matted. (1) Visible image measures 9 1/2" X 11 1/2".
