Doug Maytubbie (Choctaw, Born 1940-) "Brothers" Indian Tempera Painting. Beautiful original painting of a warrior riding an Appaloosa horse in the snow with a buffalo spirit and sun in the background. This painting is signed, "Doug Maytubbie, 89," below Maytubbie's signature Indian ceremonial spear trademark. Doug Maytubbie is a member of the Choctaw Tribe and was born in Battiest, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School in 1959. After high school, Doug joined the United States Army and served from 1960-1965. Doug is a self-taught artist and started drawing as a child. He did receive some formal training while attending college. He is a 1978 graduate from Eastern Oklahoma State College with an Associate Degree and a 1981 graduate of Central State University with a bachelor in science degree. His art is widely collected and is represented in private and public collections across the county and in Europe. The painting has been professionally framed and matted. Visible image measures 12 3/4" X 14 3/4". Frame measures 17 1/2" X 20 1/2". The Larry Mangus Collection, Corinth, Mississippi.
