This lounge chair reflects the simple but suggestive and unmistakable forms of Gerard van den Berg. The entire frame is covered with brown upholstery, which reveals the metallic disc-shaped legs. The curved shapes of the armrests and the trapezoidal shape of the footrest reflect the innovation and avant-garde to which the Dutch designer exposed himself.
Gerard Van der Berg paved the way for a renaissance of Dutch design, becoming an important figure in the promotion of Dutch furniture abroad. Trained in furniture construction and design at a technical school, in the 1970s Gerard Van den Berg founded the upholstered furniture company Montis with his brother, which soon achieved international recognition. His success did not prevent van den Berg from leaving Montis in the early 1990s. Throughout his career, he has received numerous prizes and awards and works for leading international companies. In addition to furniture, van den Berg also designs lamps and works in interior design.
