First publication of Bligh's Bounty Log, which Hill notes "contains many important passages which do not appear in either of Bligh's previously published books, as well as information patiently collected on the social lives of the Tahitians. Much of the technical detail is of great interest to those who care for ships and the sea. After visiting Tahiti and the Tonga Islands, the crew mutinied under the leadership of Fletcher Christian, the master's mate. The mutiny was largely due to Bligh's harshness to his crew, and also partly to the attachments that had sprung up between the crew and certain women of Tahiti, where the Bounty afterwards returned, before sailing to Pitcairn Island." Hill 141.
