Description
An antique style hand colored aquatint engraving. A figural portrait depicting James "Deaf" Burke (1809-1845), an English bare knuckle boxer active from 1828 to 1843. Subject name and printed details of his performance record through 1839 below image, with artist and publisher names. Engraved by Charles Hunt (English, 1803-1877) after an original portrait of Burke by English portrait painter and mezzotint engraver Henry Meyer (1780-1847), and published 1839 by John Moore (London). Presented under glass with a mat border in an antique wood frame.

Dimensions: 26.5 X 22 X .5 in.
Condition: Good overall condition with mild age related surface wear and toning to paper. Frame having mild to moderate wear to edges and corners. Estate fresh to the market.
