Celebrated clown MARK ANTHONY, who trouped for many years with RINGLING, CLYDE BEATTY, WIRTH'S CIRCUS (Australia), VARGAS, and numerous other shows during his career, was a wizard with an electric carving knife, sculpting countless clown props from blocks of foam rubber with the greatest of ease. His large walk-around creations included hippos, camels, horses, and various other critters. This particular prop, an ostrich, was a hastily-carved and quickly decorated prop made for his long-time friend and colleague "DIAMOND JIM" PARKER, and was used on the E.K. FERNANDEZ CIRCUS in Hawaii, as well as on various spot dates. Mark later made a much more elaborate ostrich prop, as well as a camel for Parker, replacing this prototype. Cond B/B-.
