Description
Cal. 65 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 26". Tower lock dated 1847 w/ numerous proof & inspectors marks throughout. Lock "CROWN/VR & ARROW". Right side butt "BO/ARROW". Brass hardware include stock end cap, two ramrod pipes, trigger guard & buttplate. Large "41" deeply stamped left stock flat. Front sight w/ no provisions for a rear sight. Lowell's bayonet catch & ramrod. Trigger guard is missing the swivel. CONDITION: Poor hammer spring tension; action needs mechanical attention. Metal is a rust brown patina w/ scattered rust & fine pitting. Stock has numerous dings & dents mostly light w/ some moderate. Bore is fair, dark & rusty. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (01-22501/CW). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
