Description
Wallis, Duchess of Windsor Personally Owned Faux Pearl and Strass Crystal Bead 60" Sautoir Necklace (From the 2004 Duke and Duchess of Windsor Auction) - This beautiful necklace is lined with faux pearls in runs of four and seven with Strass crystal beads of red, blue and green. The necklace was personally owned by Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, an American socialite and wife of Edward, Duke of Windsor, formerly King-Emperor Edward VIII. Edward's intention to marry Wallis Simpson, a divorcee, caused a constitutional crisis that ultimately led to his abdication and his title of his Royal Highness Duke of Windsor. The pair were married until Edward's death 35 years later. This necklace was originally sold as lot 621 in the Christie's 2004 auction of the Property of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and copies of the relevant pages are included.
