Description
The Beatles-Pete Best Signed Drumstick W/(2) COAs - This wooden drumstick is signed by Pete Best, known as "The Fifth Beatle," who was succeeded by Ringo Starr as the band's drummer. Best played with the band for two years before Ringo Starr took his place in 1962. In 1959 Pete Best's mother Mona turned the basement of her home into the Casbah Coffee Club, which became the catalyst for the "Mersey Sound." It was at the Casbah Coffee Club that John Lennon's original group, the Quarrymen, first performed on August 29, 1959. Pete Best joined The Beatles in August, 1960 on the eve of their trim to Hamburg, Germany when the club owner told them he wanted a five piece band. The drumstick is signed boldly in black on the end with the inscription "The Beatles". The lot includes a certificate of authenticity from SuperMega Show and Festival stating that it was signed on 4/7/02 and witnessed by Ken Laurence, co-promoter of the festival. The lot also includes a second certificate of authenticity.
