Modernist gold brooch in the form of a stylized eye and with a large Smoky Quartz or Topaz as the actual eye. Circa 1960's.

Stamped "14K" on one side of the clasp and stamped with a hard to decipher maker's mark on the other side.

The gold frame is hand-fabricated, set with a polished and deeply rounded oval smoky quartz cabochon. The back of the cabochon comes to a point and is finely cut with numerous facets allowing the light to reflect through to the front of the stone! The stone appears to be of a high quality without flaws or inclusions.

The design is very modern and has the feel of a Surrealist piece of jewelry. A miniature piece of sculpture and a real stunner when worn or displayed!
