Native American, Western United States, Great Basin region, Shoshone, Paiute, or Washoe culture, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A beaded basket with a lid, made from plant fibers over coiled cane, the lid and exterior completely beaded from base to rim in geometric patterns. Great Basin tribes have made baskets for centuries using a coiling technique and native plants such as willow, fern, rosebud, and bracken. The seed beads were introduced with European trade and incorporated by using a netted stitch. Size: 5.5" Diameter x 4.5" H (14 cm x 11.4 cm)
