Six Painted Firkins, New England, 19th and 20th century. Assembled group of handled buckets in various sizes, five with tapered finger-jointed hoops, jointed staves, and colorful paint, including one with lid impressed 'C. WILDER & SON / SO. HINGHAM, MASS.', c. 1870 mark of Crocker Wilder (1802-75) and William Crocker Wilder (1829-91) bucket factory in South Hingham, Massachusetts; the large green bucket with associated lap-jointed lid, mitered staves, and locked hoops; the large blue bucket missing lid, largest, excluding handle, 30cm wide, 30cm deep, 27cm high (12in wide, 12in deep, 11 1/2in high).
