Description
WALL CUPBOARD. Mid to late 18th century. The single door cabinet with open shaped top fitted with two demi lune corner shelves and scalloped sides. The triangular case with molded edge and canted corners, fitted with a single raised panel door opening to an interior of two fixed shelves with shaped edge, the lower shelf notched for cutlery. The cabinet with a molded stepped plinth. The case with brick red and blue-gray painted surfaces; refurbished at an early date, now exhibiting rubbing and wear overall. Traces of original paint visible throughout. A scalloped crest above the upper shelf no longer exists and now exhibits a flat edge. SIZE: 44" h x 28" w x 15" d. CONDITION: the second top shelf and case top are scraped of original paint showing drip marks from stripping with remnants of original cream and mustard paint beneath. Door hinges appear original, door latch a later replacement with ring handle. (02-17840/TG). $1,000-1,500.
