A pair of Chinese blue and white dragon jardinieres
Republic period
Decorated with 'dragons chasing a flaming pearl' motif with lobed ruyi-cloud border; both with matching saucer. All with six-character mark to underside, one with previous collector sticker to interior wall. (2).
H: 4 1/8, Dia: 3 3/4 in.
H: 10.48, Dia: 9.52 cm. (each, overall)
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.
