Description
United States, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. An antique wood and iron whirligig ornament, the wind powered pinwheel mechanism moved the churn dasher and woman's arms. This is a stereotypical "Mammy" figure with a headscarf and performing a domestic task - this imagery was popular during the Jim Crow and Great Depression era, which was also the height of whirligig popularity. Size: 17.5" L x 13.75" W x 13.5" H (44.4 cm x 34.9 cm x 34.3 cm)
