Description
This is a bust of Lord Nelson mounted on a pedestal made from wood which came from the undercarriage of a cannon on Lord Nelson’s flagship, the Victory. Lord Nelson died on the Victory in 1805 after he was shot by a French sharpshooter in the mast of a French ship engaged in battle with Nelson’s flagship at Trafalgar, and it is also a boxing trophy that is engraved with a sterling silver band near the base of the bust.
