An ancient Eastern Roman Empire Leo I gold solidus coin. Constantinople mint, circa 462. Featuring a bust of Leo I facing, helmeted, draped, cuirassed, holding a spear with right hand over right shoulder and on left shoulder a shield decorated with a horseman riding down an enemy to the obverse, and winged Victory standing left, holding with left hand a long jeweled cross; in right field, a star, with the lettering VICTORIA AVGGG.
