His most memorable game was a one-hitter against the Boston Red Sox on June 23, 1931, and of course the game of Babe Ruths 500th Home Run, which the Indians ended up winning that day. His 475 games pitched rank third on the Indians' all-time list . He was a flight instructor during World War II and later became a minor league manager as a well as the Detroit Tigers' pitching coach. He died in 2002 at the age of 96.
