A Charles I Indenture on Vellum, 1629 | Legal Document on very fine Vellum dated October 1, 1629 | Between Ellen Digby [ of Holwell / Holwell Rectory] and Edouard Digby [her late husband] and William Lipton | Is a transfer of land pursuant to Edouard Digby's Last Will & Testament to his wife and William Lipton in fee simple absolute | Signed by Ellen Digby with her seal | Has numerous (8 - 10) witness signatures on the center verso of document.Artist or Maker: Under the Reign of Charles I.Medium: Ink on VellumDate: October 1, 1629.Notes: Holwell is a village and civil parish in the county of Dorset in southern England, situated approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) south-east of Sherborne. It is sited on Oxford clay[2] in the Blackmore Vale. Its name derives from the Old English hol and walu, meaning a bank or ridge in a hollow.
