A pair of continental early portraits. The first a parlor scene with gentleman, lady at spinning wheel, and another lady reading book to child, 18th century - mounted in a 20th century gilt frame - several areas where paint is buckling from canvas (see photos) else good condition - stretcher size 13 1/2" x 17 3/8" and total frame size 17 3/4" x 21 1/2"; the second a portrait of a young lady sitting in William & Mary period chair holding book in her lap with basket of fruit/vegetables at her feet, probably late 18th to early 19th century, housed in a newer 20th century gilt gesso frame - total frame size 16" x 20" - several repairs noticeable on reverse, needs cleaning, otherwise good condition.
