A majestic pair of neoclassical brass and iron andirons having a finial of a spread wing eagle wearing crown and mounted on orb with talon holding shield marked "NEC SPE NEC METU" (translate to "Without Hope Without Fear"), above a larger shield with tassels and mounted on large scrolled iron legs with applied brass leaves, probably late 19th century. They are both in very good condition, all original with no damage or repairs. Each measures 20"W x 11"D x 28 1/2"H.
