Description
An Edwardian silver hammered cigarette or matches case, having central, circular panel, hallmarked William Neale & Sons, Chester 1906. Together with a George V cigarette case, of curved, engine-turned form with central monogram engraving, hallmarked William Henry Sparrow, Birmingham 1914. Length of Edwardian example 3.25" (8.2cm), overall gross weight 4.91 ozt (152.8 grams).
Condition Report:- Items show surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
- Planished detail to Edwardian example is rubbed to several areas.
- Push lock to Edwardian example is in good working order.
- Edwardian example is missing elasticated band to interior.
- George V example shows significant wear and losses to engine turning on hinged lid and reverse, and is very bashed and lumpy.
- Elasticated bands to interior of George V example are loose and dirty, one more so than the other.
- Hallmarks are clear and legible to both examples.
