Description
This is a vintage 14 piece set of Art Deco glassware from Libbey dating to the early 1930s. The "Knickerbocker" set features square bases. The geometric forms and clean lines of this glassware reflect a machine aesthetic that was popular at the time, even though they were not actually produced by a machine. Although the Libbey Glass Company is most well-known for their mass-produced glassware, these works demonstrate the company’s capacity to produce works of exquisite craftsmanship. The set was designed by Arthur Douglas Nash (American, 1885-1940) and Edwin W. Fuerst (American, 1903-1988). The iconic design earned the set a place in the collections of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City
The tumblers are 5 5/8" tall, the cordials are 3 3/8" tall, and the sherbet bowls are 2 3/8" tall x 4 1/2".
