This is a Panamanian carved wooden plaque featuring the "Crocodile god". The god is associated with strength, the sun, water, and fertility, and was the principal deity for more than a thousand years.
From the Upstate New York estate of Marshall and Kay Lee. Marshall was a well known collector of Pre-Columbian pottery and a talented and well-respected book designer in the publishing industry.
