A RARE EARLY 18TH CENTURY OAK CASED 'PENNY MOON' LONGCASE CLOCK the primitive case with moulded pediment and glazed door above a moulded trunk door with glass lenticle, the 10.5" arched brass dial with masked gilt spandrels and silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted engraved centre with penny moon and calendar apertures, the arch with unusual mock pendulum aperture within a crowned cartouche held by two winged cherubs fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with finned knopped pillars striking on a bell (208.5cm high)
