A VICTORIAN SILVER MUG
maker's mark erased, London 1875, cylindrical form with loop handle, raised on a spreading circular foot with bead rim, the sides engraved with two bouquets of ferns and bell-flowers enclosing an oval cartouche engraved with initials, gilded to interior. 9.1cm high, 6.3 troy ounces
Marks clear and well struck; quatrefoil maker's mark in centre scratched out. Engraved 'MAPPIN BROTHERS, LONDON BRIDGE / & 220 - REGENT ST.' to base. Stands upright, does not rock. Gilding strong to interior. Light surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use.
