8vo. (A few tiny creases to the extreme outer margins of a few leaves.) Original black cloth (slight wear to extremities); publisher’s dust jacket (spine panel faded as usual with minor wear at ends, a few tiny nicks or chips, some soiling and rubbing).
FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, with the stated “first edition” on copyright page and with “tyring” for “trying” on p. 125, in FIRST ISSUE DUST JACKET with "Wise Blood" the only title mentioned on rear panel. The first of O’Connor’s short story collections, A Good Man is Hard to Find was titled after Eddie Green’s blue’s song popularized by Bessie Smith in 1927 and includes stories ranging in theme from baptism, exploitation, greed, and serial killers.
