Description
Pre-Columbian, Esmeraldas, Ecuador, Tumaca La Tolita, ca. 350 BC to 350 AD. Size 4 7/8 inches High + stand by 3 3/8” W. A striking, lifelike full figure statue, its entire surface coated in a pale grey pigment. The face is sensitive, with wide eyes and ears. A rounded plain headdress sits on top of the head. Arms are bent around waist. Beaded necklace adorns the neck and chest. On the north coast of Ecuador and into Colombia, this culture is a continuation of the earlier Chorrera style, and is known for their realistic human faces and figures. On a custom stand.
